What is Garbh Sanskar

many of us may not be familiar with the term Garbh Sanskar and how it works. They may wonder if it involves may sort of rituals , chanting, fasts or prayers. In a nutshell, what should a couple do when they want to practise this ancient science ?

Garbh+Sanskar= garbh sanskar, its mean Garbh mean womb and Sanskar means the teaching we teach to the child who is not born yet. It means union of male sperm and female eggs. The soul, thus created , becomes ‘Grabh’ Sacrament, enlightenment or education imparted to a Garbh is what we call Garbh Sanskar. Ayurvedic scriptures say that education or enlightenment facilitates value addition. The process of making curd from milk, pulao from rice or kadhi from buttermilk is nothing but value addition. Icing turn a Palin loaf into a cake, making it all the delicious and appealing. It’s a fact that lady dinger and lond bean (guar) can cause gastric problem. But adding fenugreek and carom seeds, respectively, while collking reduces its side effects drastically. The herbs and spices used in traditional recipes is the secret of healthy food. Garbh Sanskar does not involve any chanting, penance, meditation or yoga. It is a practical guideline, based on shastras, for parents-to-be who want a healthy and intelligent child.

What makes this Ayurvedic science stand out from others is that it prescribes separate measures for each of the nine months of pregnancy.

The entire processor Grabhsanskar can be divided into three stages:-

Stage 1:- Before Pregnancy In depth explanation of factors like ideal feelings and emotions required for conceiving, preconception program, aahar-vihar for the couple, and the right time, season and copulation position to conceive.

Detoxification through Panchkarma

Undamaged and pure sperm and ovum are guaranteed only if the bodies of the couple are cleansed. To achieve this, the couple’s body detoxified in the preconception program.

Ayurveda offers a special treatment called Panchkarma for a thorough cleansing of the body. An ayurvedic doctor prescribes Panchkarma and specifies its type after determining the nature of the parents. A detailed examination is conducted to get acquainted with medical history, including obesity, diabetes, BP and high cholesterol.

What is Panchkarma

Dusting, sweeping and mopping is part of our daily cleaning routine. Yet, we thoroughly clean every corner, furniture and utensils in the home in the run-up to festivals. Similarly, the body is designed to discharged toxins through urine, stool and sweat at regular intervals. But to control disorders caused due to vata, pitta and kapha, Panchkarma cleansing is required.

Panchkarma is Brahmastra in Ayurveda. It is used when Ayurvedic medicines fail to bring the desired result. You can cover a pothole with soil, but this would never work on a lake. In such a case, we need to break the barrier and make way for the water.

Similarly, ayurvedic medicines combined with food restrictions can help in reducing imbalances in dosha. But if the irregu;arities are revere, then it can be treated through Panchkarma. According to Ayurveda, an unhealthy diet slows down metabolism, which is called amu (toxins). This affects the digestive system. It mean that all diseases stem from indigestion. It is advisable to ger rid of this toxin without delay. Panchkarma means a collection of five detoxification processes. These include Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Basti and raktamokshana. Apart from the five basic processes, Panchkarma offers remedies for other diseases too. Everyone is not required to undergo all the five processes. It is priscribed based on the nature and form of diseases and prevailing season. It is not just for sick, but healthy persons can also take Panchkarma treatment to remain fit. The procedure frees the body of toxins and boosts the immune system. It can delay an untimely maturing. The treatment, however, should be received under the guidance of an ayurvedic doctor.

Vamana :- This treatment is done for an aggravated kaphadosha, which eliminates toxins mainly from respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. It is targeted to release excess kapha dosha from the body. Excessive kapha dosha causes conditions and diseases like allergy, acidity, acne and respiratory problem among others.

VIRECHANA :- it is a controlled process that collects toxins from many Pitta locations in the body, concentrates it in the small intestine and then discharges it. Virechana customarily leads to a state where toxic and disease-causing pitta dosha is flushed out of the body. The therapy is useful in eliminating excess pitta in a woman, helping sperm reach the uterus without getting damaged. It exponentially increases the chances of conception.

NASYA :- A treatment refers to the therapy in which herbal oils, juices or powders are administered through the nasal route. It is useful in treatment of stress, tension, insomnia, migraine, hair issues, high BP and eye problem. It is a sure remedy for chronic cold. It treats cough congestion in the head through the nasal tract.

BASTI:- It is an enema of herbal oil in Panchkarma. It is effective in treating vata disorders by expelling excess gas through the anal tract. It is a remedy for arthritis, paralysis, polio, sciatica constipation and neck and back pain.

RAKTAMOKSHANA:- It is useful in addressing skin or blood disorders, Impure blood is removed form the body using a scalpel or syringe.

Panchkarma Therapies

UTTRBASTI:- In this therapy, ayurvedic ghee is administered into the uterus on the fourth or fifth day of menstrual cycle, when the bleeding is less or not at all. It prepares the uterus for conception. It treats various uterus related disorders. This is generally performed for three months at a stretch.

SHRIDHARA:- It is a form of treatment in which warm, herbarized ayurvedic oil is poured on the forehead, which is considered the root of the body and therefore helps in stabilizing the mind and the body. The therapy is useful in ailments related to head, hair, insomnia, high BP, paralysis migraine and to attain mental peace.

NETRATARPAN :- This therapy deals with eye problem. Two cylinders with hollow center are placed over the eye and filled with medicated ghee. Eyes remain dipped in a pool of ghee. It is useful in curing all sort of eye problem. KAVAL-GANDUSH :- This procedure address teeth, gums and mouth related diseases.

How to plan pregnancy

Rishi Kashyap had two wives- Diti and Aditi, Diti was indulgent and Aditi was absorbed in devotion. One evening, Diti dolled up to entice the rishi. The rishi knew she was possessed by her desires but all his efforts to overlook her were in vain. They ended up coupling at an inappropriate time of sandhyakal (evening). As a result, Diti gave birth to two asuras(demons) named Hiranyaksha and Hiranya Kashyap. But Aditi, thanks to her religious observance, was blessed with deities. So it is important to know and understand the various aspect of the physical relationship between a husband and wife.

Diet before pregnancy

  • The couple must take nutritious and balanced diets at least for 2-3 months
  • Try to have freshly cooked meals.
  • Diet must include lentils, rice vegetables rotli (wheat bread), butter, buttermilk, green gram khichdi and seasonal fruit.
  • Include milk and milk product like Kheer, dudhpak, basundi in your diet.
  • Stay away form processed flour items like pav, dabali, pizza, burger, toast, puffs, bakery and fermented items like dhokla, idli, khaman, locho also avoid canned food cokd drinks flavoured dishes and chinese and punjabi cuisine or nay other spicy inems.
  • Avoid addictions like tea, coffee, tobacco, bidis and cigarettes.
  • One should eat onlu when really hungry. It is advisable ot chew the food properly with no distractionsn Avoid talking or laughing at the time of meals . Do not eat too quickly or too slow.
  • Tamasik food like meat, egg, fish marujauna, alscohol and cannabis are not advisable.
  • Avoid too sour or too salty items like pickle papad.
  • A nutritious and balanced diet shokd be taken in the right proportion.
  • Try to restrict the intake of brinjal, papaya, elephant foot yam and dry fruitsm avoid citrus food prefer fruits like banana apple .

Routine before pregnancy

  • Like diet, the couple should also make changes in lifesstyle and clothing preferences.
  • They should not wear tight jeans or any other skin tight clothes
  • Excess use of tight jeans can be harmful for both male and female. It acts as an obstruction to formation of pure sperm or eggs. Choose loose, cofortable outfits.
  • Instead of heavy exercises, do yoga, pranayama and meditation.No matter what the situation is, try to avoid emations like anger, jealoisy , worry hatred and revenge.
  • Do not watch TV series, movies or news that have negative content.
  • Prefer classical music, literature and spiritual bhajans.
  • Stop frewuent intake of allopathic medicines.
  • Avoid staying awake till late night and excessive use of mobile phone/ computer.
  • Be in the company of people with high thinking and intelligence . Stay away from negative wicked and addicted people.

Things to remember before conceiving

  • One should not overeat.
  • Man and woman should not be completely hungry
  • They should not be fearful or having weak morale.
  • They must not be perturbed with grief
  • They should not be quarrelling or angry
  • Man must not have affection for other woman and woman must not have affection for any other man.
  • They should not be tired, bored or agitated because of the hectic day
  • They should not have any kind of a pain in the body.
  • There must be an interval of 3 ot 4 hour between dinner and mating time.

What is infertility ? and Causes of infertility

  • Anatomical distortion or deformation of female reproductive organs like vagina, uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes. This can be related to the size and shape of these organs like contracted vaginal opening or cervix, samll urerus, any ulcer in the yrerus or blocking in the fallopinan tubes.
  • Underdeveloped eggs in ovaries or delay in the egg release. Improper ovulation can also cause infertility in woman.
  • Excessive heat inside the body due to imbalance in pitta dosha can kill the sperm before it reaches the uterus from the vagina. It can also weaken the sperm. Excessive heat can affect the development of the fetus even after fertilisation, which may restore the menstrual cycle.
  • Persistent physical psychological disorders, imbalance of hormones like thyroid and diabetes can also reduce the prospects of pregnancy. In this fast-changing world, the responsibilities roles of women are changing quickly too. She fights on multiple fronts and juggles between various responsibilities. Causes of male infertility

  • Like eggs in females , sperm present in male semen resposnible for conception. Based on an individual’s diet, according to Ayurveda sevent type of elements are formed in the body, including plasma, blood, muscles, fat, bones and reproductive fluid. In Sanskrit, they are called Dhaarnaat Dhatva. It means elements form the body and without reproductive fluid(semen), conception is impossible. The fluid is responsible for building radiance or essence of hte peogeny. Child’s persona gets strength and confidence from essence. A person born out of weak sperm comes across as a dull or pale personality. Little wonder that saints, monks and celibates, who use semen to energise the body, are superior and influential personalities.

Qualities of Superior semen

Best quality of semen is unctuous, heavy, slimy, white in colour and fertile. It should be mild and itch-free

  • Excessive intake of spicy, oily and junk food.
  • Addiction of alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco or tea.
  • Excessive hot water bath.
  • Overuse of tight clothing like jeans, which can exert pressure on reproductive organs, affecting sperm production.
  • Sleep disorder and extreme stress.
  • Pornography can lead to addiction of masturbation in young age. According to Ayurveda, the semen should be preserved and enhanced. Right treatment can cure this problem.

What is the symptoms of pregnancy

There is no better moment in life of a woman than the time she realises she is pregnant. Her happiness has no limits on knowing that she is carrying a life in her womb. In this age, a simple urine pregnancy test within a week or so after missing the menstrual cycle can confirm whether you are pregnant or not. Certain symptoms described by ayurvedic seers are helpful in its early stage.

  • Nausea
  • Deowsiness
  • Restlessness, yet contentment deep down
